5 DAYS LAKE MBURO & BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
 

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

 

This Uganda adventure tour features a game drive & dug-out canoe ride in Lake Mburo park plus mountain gorilla trekking expedition in Bwindi impenetrable forest.

    Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

    After breakfast the tour guide will drive you to Lake Mburo national park Approximately 230km 4 hours drive on the Mbarara Kampala highway. You can either use the Nshara Gate which is 211 km 3 hrs from Kampala turn left, from Lyantonde town, from the road to the park headquarters its 20 km. Or you can use the Sanga gate by turning left Sanga Trading Centre Masaka-Mbarara road. On arrival you will visit the local communities or go horse riding. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    Day 2: Game Drive & Boat Ride

    After breakfast you will go for a game drive where you will spot animals like Zebras, duikers, Impala, Bohor reedbuck, Buffaloes, eland antelope, topi, Klipspringer, the Vervet monkey, olive baboon, leopard, Hyenas, jackals, agile Rock Hyrax, waterbucks, warthogs, bushbucks, and oribi. Birds like the White-winged Warblers, Black-billed Barbet, Crested Francolin and great snipe may also be spotted during the game drive and some during the boat ride. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo you may spot the rare shoebill and other bird species, you may also see animals like the hippos and the crocodiles in the water. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Forest

    Breakfast and then go for a very early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers such as lions, and leopards. Other animals to be spotted include Bat-eared Fox, Stripped Hyena, Cheetah, Caracal Lesser, Greater Kudu, Roan Antelope, Besia Oryx, Eland, Defassa Waterbuck, Oribi, Bohor Reedbuck, and Jacksons Hartebeest, Rothchilds Giraffe and Burchell’s Zebra, Lions, white Buffalo and Elephants which can be seen in Narus Valley. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon visit the local communities and do activities with them like milking of the cows and participating in their traditional dances. Dinner and overnight as above.

    Day 4: Gorilla Trekking

    After breakfast the driver guide will pick you from the lodge with packed lunch and drive you to UWA park headquarters for briefing. After briefing you will go for trekking which takes about 1 to 8 hours. You will have one hour only with the gorillas. During the trekking you may spot birds like the Short-tailed Warbler, Rusty-faced woodland Warbler, Bar-tailed Trogon, Gruer’s Rush Warbler, Wilcock’s Honey-guide, Yellow-eyed black Fly-catcher, Kivu Ground Thrush, Dusky Crimson Wing, White-tailed Blue Monarch, African Green Broadbill, Shelley’s Crimsonwing , Handsome Francolin, Black-billed Turaco, African Broadbill; Black and Cinnamon-chested Bee-eaters, genet and many species of bats and rondents can be seen too since the forest is a home to various birds and animals. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala

    After breakfast the driver will pick you from the lodge after checking out and drive you will back to Kampala. You may stop at the Igongo cultural centre for lunch and visiting the museum, make another stopover at the equator in Kayabwe for photography. Proceed to Kampala.
