Siana Springs

Location: Situated at the base of the Ngama Hills, on the eastern edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Siana Springs occupies a lush indigenous forest watered by the largest natural springs in the Mara ecosystem - Siana Springs meaning "the plentiful spring" in Maasai. A Siana spring is located 240 km South West of Nairobi.

Fringed by marshes and surrounded by ghostly Fever trees,. Built on a site chosen by 1950's game warden, Major Lyn Temple-Boreham, this grand-tented camp was established in partnership with the neighboring Maasai, who continue to graze their cattle in harmony with the wildlife.

Perfectly recapturing the romance of the early pioneers, Siana Springs possesses a tranquil atmosphere, with spacious safari-style tents and shaded trees offering complete privacy in the lush, unspoiled setting. A convivial dining area offers fine cuisine, while the swimming pool is an irresistible oasis on hot days.

Activities are centered on game viewing excursions into the Masai-Mara in the company of experienced guides, bush walks with resident naturalists and night drives with spot lamps in search of nocturnal wildlife. Elephant and leopard hides offer wonderful viewing opportunities for these animals and much more besides.

Birdlife is prolific and with expert Maasai naturalists on hand, up to 100 different species can be seen in a day. Hot-air balloon excursions, soaring silently above the plains, provide breathtaking wilderness vistas

Accommodation: The luxurious tented camp offers 38 spacious tents situated in 3 secluded ‘wings’: The Bamboo wing, surrounded by bamboo groves and flowering ornamental trees near the main camp; the palm wing, overlooking a series of springs. The tents boast the very latest in luxury camping, with large single or double beds, personal closets, writing desks and ensuite bathrooms with flush toilets and steaming hot showers.

Facilities: 24 hour room service, mineral water and repellent in tents. Telephone service, free form swimming pool & sunbathing terrace. Escorted walking safaris, riverside banquets in the main Mara reserve. Catered parties at the bush sites and animal hides, traditional dances by local Maasai and an adventure club for children of all ages.
