A luxurious safari that combines the beauty and drama of Tanzania’s
game parks with the tropical beaches and Indian Ocean of exotic Zanzibar.
From Nairobi, travel south by shuttle bus into Tanzania for an overnight
stay in a hotel in Moshi beneath the shadow of Mt. Kilamanjaro.
Travelling across the spectacular Great Rift Valley you reach Lake Manyara
National Park. Plains game here include buffalo, wildebeest and giraffe,
and pelicans and storks share Lake Manyara with migrant flamingos, which
turn the crystalline edges of the soda lake a vibrant pink.
A brief visit to Olduvai Gorge to learn about the evolution of mankind
before entering the famous Serengeti National Park. With its diverse landscapes
of grassy plains, acacia savannah, and river forests the Serengeti is
home to a wide variety of wildlife including lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo,
as well as various antelopes and birds. At the Ngorongoro Crater, enjoy
the tremendous views at the top before descending the steep road to the
floor of the world’s largest intact caldera for more outstanding
game viewing. This is Africa’s densest collection of animals including
the Big 5 and photographers will be well rewarded.
From the crater, pass colourful Maasai villages in the Great Rift Valley
on the way back to Moshi.
From Moshi, you are transferred to your flight to Zanzibar, and on arrival
on the island transferred to Nungwi, a delightful beachside resort in
northern Zanzibar. Spend your time here enjoying the warm and tantalisingly
blue Indian Ocean and the long white sandy beaches. There’s a range
of watersports to try or simply relax, sample the excellent seafood and
soak up the timeless and laid back atmosphere.
This morning, you will be transferred to Zanzibar’s capital Stone
Town, and there’s time to explore the enchanting and intruiguing
alleyways of the ancient Arabian city, buy some of the spices that the
island is famous for, or visit the giant tortoises on nearby Prison Island.
Transfer to the airport or the ferry terminal for boats to Dar es Salaam
where you tour ends.
